1st Regiment Michigan Cavalry - The First Cavalry commenced recruiting on August 21, 1861, at Camp Lyon, near Detroit, the place of rendezvous, the organization of the Regiment being under the direction of Thornton F. Brodhead who had been appointed its Colonel. It was mustered into United States service on the 13th. of September, with 1144 officers and men on its rolls.
 
2nd Michigan Cavalry - Historical site dedicated to the 2nd Michigan Cavalry. Much of the information and text is taken from a book called "A Hundred Battles in the West"
 
6th Regiment Michigan Cavalry - The Sixth Cavalry was organized at Grand Rapids, under the authority granted to the honorable F.W. Kellog, by the War Department, approved by the Governor. Its recruitment being completed, it was mustered into the service of the United States on the 13th. of October, 1862, with 1229 officers and men on its rolls.
