BAS - Stations and Bases - Signy
- Signy station was first occupied on 10 March 1947 primarily as a meteorological station. Since then the main base hut has been rebuilt three times, most recently in 1995-96. In 1964 Signy became the centre of BAS biological science. In 1995 marine science at Signy ceased, and in 1996 the station became a summer-only operation. A history of Signy to 1987 has been published by BAS.
