Throughout the year, the regular daily schedule is supplemented with retreats in the Zen arts, martial arts, Buddhist studies, and other areas thought to be relevant and supportive to practitioners.
 
New York: Chogye International Zen Center - Founded in 1975. Member of the Kwan Um School of Zen. Offers a complete daily practice schedule and frequent dharma talks and retreats.
 
New York: Patriarchal Zen Society - Hey-Wol (Wisdom Moon), teacher. Member of the World Zen Fellowship. Offers weekly group zazen practice and periodic retreats.
 
New York: The Meditation Group - An affiliate of The Ch'an Meditation Center and Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association, in the Lin-Chi (Rinzai) lineage. Offers weekly group meditation and periodic retreats.

Rye: Empty Hand Zendo - The Meeting House Zen Group has its origins in a weekly sitting program led by Susan Postal at Wainwright House from 1980-1985. Responding to an invitation by Rye Friends to share their historic Meeting House, Susan with the support of her teacher began leading evening zazen there twice weekly in 1986. The Zen Group incorporated as a not for profit organization in 1988.
 
Shawangunk: Dharma Drum Retreat Center - Retreat center for Dharma Drum Mountain, a Ch'an Buddhist association in the lineage of Lin-Chi (Rinzai).
 
Springwater Center (near Rochester) - Technically not Zen. Springwater is run by Toni Packer, a former Zen teacher who no longer affiliates with traditional Zen.
 
Syracuse: Zen Center of Syracuse, Hoen-ji - Offers a full Zen practice schedule, with a resident teacher. Affiliated with the Dai Bosatsu Zendo and the Rinzai tradition.
 
Yonkers: Hudson River Peacemaker Community - Offers a weekly meditation schedule with engagement in social action and interpersonal sharing in an interfaith setting. The Center is housed in the Maitri AIDS Facility.
