A History of the Socialist Party of America - A brief and more objective history of the American socialist party of Eugene Debs and Norman Thomas, which split into three groups in 1973 (Democratic Socialists of America, Social Democrats USA, and Socialist Party USA).

African National Congress - Official web site of the African National Congress, the majority party in the South African Government of National Unity

Alliance (New Zealand) - An electoral alliance formed by several parties to the left of NZ Labour (several of which split from Labour in the 1980s). Led by Jim Anderton, MP. Received 8% of the vote in the 1999 election and is the minority partner in the coalition government with Labour.

Works to build progressive movements while establishing an openly socialist presence in American politics. Born from the 1973 split of the former Socialist Party of America. Members differ on working with the Democratic Party.

European Social Democratic Party - A party set up in 2000 to appeal to people from all over Europe. Argues the need for European and global unity to solve social, economic and political problems.

Irish Labour Party - Represented in the Dail as a minor party and has been a junior coalition partner in Irish governments. Absorbed the left-socialist Democratic Left party into its ranks in a 1998 merger.

Labour Party (Britain) - Official site of the Labour Party, Britain's "democratic socialist party", according to the party constitution. Currently led by centrist Prime Minister Tony Blair, who is the chief advocate of the "Third Way" philosophy advanced by author Anthony Giddens.

Active in the Democratic Party, SDUSA has often taken neo-conservative positions on geo-political issues.

Socialist Party USA - A minority faction of the former Socialist Party of America, who took the name and established a new organization in 1973. The SP-USA claims to be the successor to the old party, and advocates a strictly independent electoral strategy for socialists, but has no elected officials and ballot status only in Florida. Has about 1000 members, and runs a presidential campaign every four years.

The New Party - Progressive left/social democratic formation trying to build a new political party "from the ground up," by waging winnable campaigns in local elections and running fusion candidats (ie candidates who run on more than one ticket at once). NP members have won over 100 elections across the US.
