Goosenest Ranger District is in northeast portion and the rest of the districts are in the Northwest (part of the Oak Knoll District extends into Oregon). The terrain, elevation and weather vary greatly from one side of the forest to the other.   Marble Mountain Wilderness - The 242,500 acre Marble Mountain Wilderness is a forested area with many meadows making for easily traveled. The area contains 89 lakes stocked with trout. Large streams have steelhead trout and salmon. Bear, deer and other wildlife are plentiful. The area is heavily use at Sky High, Campbell, Cliff Summit, Paradise an Ukonom lakes.
